Pixelation is the look everyone reads instantly as "this was hidden on purpose" — useful in tutorials, screenshots of chats, and photos where a face should stay unrecognisable but visibly present.

The block size is yours to choose. Big blocks destroy more information; small blocks look tidier but leave more of the original shape, and with text they leave enough to be readable again.

You can mix it with a blur or a solid block in the same picture: pixels over a face, a black bar over an email address.

Frequently asked questions

How big should the blocks be?

Big enough that the shape underneath is unrecognisable. For a face, the whole face should be roughly five to eight blocks across, no more.

Is pixelation safe for hiding text?

No. Pixelated text has been reconstructed many times, because letters have a small number of possible shapes. Use the solid block option for anything sensitive.

Can I undo an area?

Yes — "Undo last area" removes the most recent box, and the strength and style can be changed at any time before you download.
