Templates
Four templates to start from — a quote, a sale, an announcement and a numbered tip card — sized to the three shapes Instagram actually accepts: the 1080 × 1080 square, the 1080 × 1350 portrait that takes up the most room in the feed, and the 1080 × 566 landscape.
Switching between those three sizes rescales what you have already made rather than throwing it away, so you can lay a post out as a square and export the portrait version of it a moment later.
If you want your own photo behind the text, set the background to Photo and use the Darken slider — a little dimming is usually the difference between white text you can read and white text you can almost read.
How to use it
- Pick a template, then pick the square, portrait or landscape size.
- Click the headline to rewrite it; drag it where you want it.
- Set a background colour, a gradient, or your own photo.
- Download the PNG and upload it to Instagram as it is.
Frequently asked questions
What size should an Instagram post be?
1080 × 1080 for a square, 1080 × 1350 for a portrait (it occupies the most vertical space in the feed), 1080 × 566 for a landscape. All three are in the size menu, so you do not have to remember them.
Will Instagram crop my design?
Not if you use one of these sizes — they are the native aspect ratios, so nothing gets cut. Keep important text away from the outer few percent anyway, because profile grids show squares.
Is there a watermark?
No. Nothing is added to the image at any point.
Why does my text look blurry after uploading?
That is Instagram re-compressing the upload, not the export. Downloading as PNG rather than JPG gives it the cleanest possible source to work from, which helps with flat colour and large type.
Can I make a carousel?
One slide at a time: design the first, download it, change the text, download again. There is no multi-page export here.
I have a photo already and just need it cropped to a square.
