Vertical video is the format three platforms share, and uploading a landscape clip to any of them wastes most of the screen. This reframes it properly instead of leaving the app to guess.

Two ways to do it. “Crop to fill” zooms in and cuts the sides, which looks native but loses the edges — check that nobody important is standing there. “Fit” keeps the whole frame and adds bars, which is safer for text and screen recordings.

The output is a clean 1080 × 1920 (or 1080 × 1080, or 1920 × 1080) file with no watermark, encoded on your own device.

Which size do TikTok, Reels and Shorts want?

All three use 9:16, and 1080 × 1920 is the sweet spot: full HD vertical, accepted everywhere, not so big that uploads crawl.

Crop or fit — which should I choose?

Crop for anything filmed of a person or a scene; fit for screen recordings, slides or text, where losing the sides would cut off content.

Does it add a watermark?

No. Nothing here does.

Will the file get much bigger?

It’s re-encoded at high quality, so a landscape clip cropped to vertical is usually a similar size or smaller. If you need it under a specific limit, use the compress-to-a-size tool afterwards.
