How this works
- Nothing is uploaded — the file is decoded and re-encoded by your own browser, so there is no queue, no size limit beyond your device’s memory, and your recording never reaches anyone else.
- MP3 is the interesting one — no browser ships an MP3 encoder, only a decoder, which is why most free converters are servers. This loads a small encoder into the page on demand instead.
- Cutting is exact — set the start and end by ear with the player, then use the playhead button to snap a marker to where you are. What you keep is what you hear between them.
- Video files work too — drop an MP4 or a MOV and the audio track comes out on its own. The picture is discarded.

The cut happens in your browser. That matters more here than for most file types: audio is voice notes, interviews, recordings of meetings and music you have paid for, none of which belongs on a stranger's server for the sake of removing thirty seconds.

Frequently asked questions
Does cutting reduce the quality?
Re-encoding a lossy file always costs a little, because the original was already approximated. Choose WAV or FLAC if you are going to edit further; for listening, High quality MP3 or M4A is indistinguishable in practice.
Can I cut a piece out of the middle?
Not in one pass — this keeps a single range. To remove a middle section, export the part before it and the part after it, then join them with the audio joiner.
Is there a file size limit?
Only your device's memory. Nothing is uploaded, so there is no server limit to hit and no queue to wait in.
Can I use a video file?
Yes. Drop in an MP4 or MOV and the audio comes out on its own; the picture is discarded.
