Three honest starting points rather than a thousand clip-art icons: a circular monogram, a letter-spaced wordmark with a rule under it, and a round badge. All three are the shapes that actually survive being shrunk to a favicon.
Keep it simple on purpose. A logo has to work at 32 pixels in a browser tab, in one colour on an invoice, and embroidered on a shirt — which rules out fine detail, gradients and thin strokes far more than taste does.

Frequently asked questions
Is the download transparent?
Yes, as long as the background is set to None and you export PNG. JPG has no transparency at all, so it comes out on white.
Can I use this logo for my business?
Yes. The fonts are SIL Open Font License and the shapes are generic, so commercial use is fine. Bear in mind that no logo built from a public template is distinctive enough to register as a trademark — for that you need something original.
Can I get an SVG or vector file?
No, the export is PNG or JPG. Design at 2000 × 2000 and you will have enough resolution for a sign or a shirt; if you need true vector later, a designer can redraw it from the PNG.
How do I turn this into a favicon?
Download the transparent PNG, then run it through the <a href="/favicon-generator/">favicon generator</a>, which produces every size and the manifest files.
What size should I design at?
1000 × 1000 is plenty for the web. Use 2000 × 2000 if it is going to print, and the wide 1600 × 600 if your logo is mostly a name rather than a mark.
Can I put the logo on a photo to see how it looks?
