Who is responsible

The data controller for everything described on this page is the publisher of this website, whose name and address are in the legal notice. You can reach us at hello@justgivememything.com.

Your files

Almost all tools on this website process files locally in your browser. Images, PDFs and any other files you open with them are never uploaded to our servers or shared with anyone. Text you type into a tool (for example the content of a QR code) also stays on your device.

AI tools that use our server

A few tools work differently, and we want to be precise about them. Their AI models are too large or too slow to run well on most phones, so your image is sent to our own server over an encrypted connection:

  • Remove Background, and the tools built on it (Text Behind Image and the passport photo maker’s background replacement): your browser scales the image down to 1024 pixels and sends only that copy. Your full-resolution image never leaves your device; the final result is assembled in your browser.
  • AI Image Upscaler: your image is sent, shrunk first in your browser if it is larger than 1000 pixels on its longest side. The upscaled result is sent back.
  • Remove Object from Photo: your photo is sent at full resolution, together with the mask you painted, because the result has to come back at full resolution. The result carries an invisible metadata tag saying it was edited with AI, as EU law asks of AI-edited images.

For all of them:

  • The image is held in memory only for as long as the request takes (usually a few seconds) and is then discarded. It is never written to disk, never backed up and never kept.
  • We do not log the images themselves, and no human looks at them.
  • Nothing is sent to any third party: the models run on our own server, not on an external AI service.
  • To keep the tools usable for everyone, the server counts how many requests come from an IP address over the last hour. That counter lives in memory only, and is erased once an address has made no request for two hours.

What we don’t collect

There are no user accounts. We don’t ask for your name, email address or any personal information to use the tools, and we run no analytics or tracking of our own.

Server logs

Like any website, our server records technical information when a page or a tool is requested: IP address, browser type, requested address, date and time. These logs are used only to keep the site secure and working, which is our legitimate interest in running a reliable service, and are deleted after 14 days.

Error reports

When a tool crashes or fails unexpectedly, your browser sends us a short technical report so we can fix it: the error message, the page it happened on, and your browser name and version (for example “Chrome 128 Android”). File names are removed, and the report itself never contains your files, what you typed, your IP address or any identifier (the request that carries it appears in the server logs above, like any other). Reports are kept in a small log that overwrites itself as new ones arrive. We rely on our legitimate interest in fixing what’s broken.

Offline use and shared files

So the site keeps working with a weak or no connection, your browser keeps a copy of the pages you visit and the site’s code in its own cache. Files you process are never put there. When you share a file to this site from your phone, or pass a result from one tool to the next, the file waits in your browser’s storage until the tool opens it, and is deleted straight away (anything left behind is cleared after an hour).

Stored on your device

We store your light/dark theme preference in your browser’s local storage. If you tick “Remember my business details” in the invoice generator, those details (and your logo) are stored there too. Neither ever leaves your device, and you can erase them by unticking the box or clearing your browser data. None of this needs your consent: each is either needed for the site to work or something you asked for.

Cookies

This site sets no cookies and runs no advertising or analytics trackers. If that changes (we plan to fund the site with ads), this page will say so, and you will be asked for consent where the law requires it.

Who receives data

  • OVH SAS, which hosts our server, processes the server logs on our behalf.
  • No one else. We don’t sell or share personal data.

Your rights

Under the GDPR, you have the right to access, correct and delete personal data about you, and to object to how it is used. Since we collect almost nothing that identifies you, there is usually nothing to access, but you can write to hello@justgivememything.com with any request or question. You can also complain to the French data protection authority, the CNIL.
