Before you start
- Desktop browsers only — no browser on iOS or Android can capture the screen. Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari on a computer all work.
- You choose what to share — the whole screen, one window, or a single browser tab. Your browser asks once you press the button.
- Sound is the fiddly part — a shared tab can carry its own audio anywhere. Sharing a window or the whole screen captures system audio on Chrome and Edge, but not on Safari or Firefox.
- Nothing is uploaded — the video is assembled in this tab and saved straight to your downloads, however long you record.
Click start, pick your whole screen, a specific window, or a browser tab, and recording begins. When you’re done, preview the result and download it — no software to install, no account, no time limit imposed by us.
Recording happens entirely in your browser using its built-in screen-capture support: nothing is uploaded anywhere until you choose to download the file yourself.
How to use it
- Click “Start recording” and choose what to share when your browser asks.
- Do whatever you want to record.
- Click “Stop” (or use your browser’s own “Stop sharing” control), then download the video.
Frequently asked questions
Does this record audio too?
Tick “Include audio” before starting, then choose to share system/tab audio when your browser prompts you. Not every browser or every capture type (e.g. some individual windows) supports audio capture.
What format is the download?
WebM (VP9/VP8 video, Opus audio) in most browsers, which plays natively in Chrome, Firefox and Edge and can be converted with our video tools if you need another format.
Is there a recording time limit?
No limit from us. The practical limit is your device’s available memory, since the recording is held in your browser until you download it.
Why doesn’t it work on my phone?
Screen recording from a web page (rather than the OS itself) isn’t supported on iOS Safari or most mobile browsers. Use your phone’s built-in screen recorder instead.
