Rotate a video
Turn a sideways video the right way up, for players that ignore the rotation flag.

Phones record sideways all the time and mark the file with a rotation flag. Good players respect it; plenty of others — older software, some social uploads, some TVs — do not, and your video plays on its side.
Rotating here writes the turn into the file itself, so it no longer depends on the player being polite about metadata.
Quarter turns in both directions and a half turn for footage that came out upside down.

- Drop in the video.
- Choose 90°, 180° or 270°.
- Convert, then download the corrected file.
Frequently asked questions
Why does my video look fine on my phone but sideways on my computer?
Your phone reads the rotation flag; the other player ignores it. Rotating the file fixes it everywhere.
Does rotating re-encode the video?
Where the container supports it, the rotation is stored as metadata and the picture is copied untouched. Otherwise the video is re-encoded once.
Can I rotate by a small angle to straighten the horizon?
No — this does quarter turns. Fine straightening is a video editor’s job.
