AI Image Upscaler (2x)
A lighter, 2x AI upscale: sharper than a plain resize, with more natural detail.
This is one of three tools here that need our server: the AI model has to run somewhere powerful enough to be fast on every device, phones included. Your image is sent over HTTPS, processed in memory and never saved to disk.
Images larger than 1000 px on the longest side are shrunk before upscaling.
2× is the gentle setting: a 640-pixel photo becomes 1280, a 1000-pixel image becomes 2000. That’s usually exactly what a website slot, a slide or a small print needs.
The model still runs at 4× internally and the result is scaled down, which averages away the occasional over-sharpened texture and gives a more natural look than 4× on photos.
Use the slider to compare the result with the original stretched to the same size — that’s the fair comparison.
How to use it
- Drop in your image.
- Let the server upscale it (a few seconds).
- Compare and download.
Frequently asked questions
Why is 2× sometimes better than 4×?
Fine textures like fabric and hair are where AI upscaling can look artificial. Producing 4× and scaling down to 2× smooths those spots out.
How big can the input be?
Up to 1000 pixels on the longest side; bigger images are shrunk first. Upscaling is for images that are too small.
Will it remove JPEG artefacts?
It reduces mild compression blocking as a side effect, but heavily compressed images keep some of their artefacts, just larger.
