Add a watermark to a PDF
Stamp text across every page: DRAFT, CONFIDENTIAL, a name, a date.
A watermark marks a document’s status in a way nobody can miss: a draft that shouldn’t be quoted, a copy that shouldn’t circulate, a proof that isn’t final.
Set it diagonally across the middle of each page, or tile it so it can’t be cropped away. The opacity slider keeps the text underneath readable.
Everything else in the file is left alone, so the document stays searchable and its links keep working.

Frequently asked questions
Can the watermark be removed afterwards?
Not by a normal reader, but it isn’t encryption either: the text is a drawing in the page, and someone determined with the right tools could strip it. Treat it as a clear label, not a lock.
Can I watermark with an image or a logo?
This page stamps text. For a logo, put it on the pages before making the PDF — our watermark tool for images does that, then convert to PDF.
Will it cover the text underneath?
At the default opacity, no: it sits behind your reading. Raise the opacity if you want it dominant, lower it if it distracts.
Does the PDF stay searchable?
Yes. The original content isn’t touched, so text selection, search, links and bookmarks all still work.
