Online stopwatch

Time something, with laps and splits.

00:00.00

How this works

  • Laps show both figures — the total elapsed time and the split since the previous lap, which is the one you usually want when you are pacing something.
  • It survives a background tab — the reading comes from the clock rather than from counted frames, so switching tabs or locking the phone does not lose time.
  • Hundredths are real — the display updates about twenty times a second, and the value itself is exact to the millisecond whenever it is read.

Start, stop, and take a lap. Each lap shows both numbers worth knowing: the total elapsed time, and the split since the previous lap — which is the one you actually want when you are pacing something.

The display updates about twenty times a second so the hundredths move smoothly, but the value itself comes from the clock, so it stays exact to the millisecond even if the tab is hidden or the browser throttles it.

No account, nothing stored, and it opens instantly.

How to use it

  1. Press start.
  2. Press lap whenever you want a split recorded.
  3. Pause and resume as often as you like — the time carries over.
  4. Reset clears the laps too.

Frequently asked questions

Does pausing lose time?

No. Pausing banks the elapsed time and resuming carries on from it, so you can stop and start as often as you need.

What is the difference between the two numbers on a lap?

The first is the total time since you started; the second, with a plus sign, is how long that lap took on its own.

Is it accurate enough for sport?

The timing is exact to the millisecond, but your reaction time on the button is not — nobody presses within a tenth of a second reliably. For anything official you need equipment that starts and stops itself.

Can I copy the laps out?

They are on screen as plain text, so you can select and copy them. Nothing is saved between visits.
